The Busy Bean Enters Renaissance
October 15, 2021
At the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, students were gifted with a new in-school café called The Busy Bean. Hampton High School opened this during the rising trend of opening student-operated café spaces so pupils could get experience in the service industry at school. It had an array of coffee, tea, and other drinks, with breakfast foods and fruit to give. Not only was The Busy Bean affordable, but students were able to go to the cafeteria during a study hall period in the morning and mingle with friends.
The Busy Bean entered a decline the following year- certain items were discontinued, and hours became limited. Swiftly, the entire junction grinded to a halt due to the COVID-19 lockdown, and continued into the entirety of the 2020-2021 school year. The student body sustained a great loss, and grieved the loss of The Bean. Though its time was fleeting, its impact was of great measure.
This academic year, an abundance of good news was brought; from the removal of hybrid scheduling and desk shields to the renovation project beginning. However, a certain announcement stuck out: The Busy Bean would begin its commerce once again. On October 2nd, the small window adjacent to the cafeteria would re-open from first through fourth periods, ready to market an abundance of food to sustain the masses.
Due to construction in the auxiliary gym, The Bean’s hours of operation are limited, so stay tuned into the announcements to know when you can pay a visit next.

This was a really entertaining article to read especially since everyone loves the bean. This is the first year I’ve got to experience it as a sophomore and learning this information is really interesting.

Great article, I like the mentioning of the busy bean’s “lifetime” and how you included the impact it has had on the students at HHS.

This article was perfectly short and sweet. It is about a topic that students are interested in, being they can get food and get out of study hall. I thought it was smart to mention its closing because of COVID, and then follow it up with the reason for its recent closing. The article is a nice length with the perfect information.

Darcy, I really liked your article. It was informative and really explained to me the impact The Busy Bean has on the school. It showed me the joy people feel when its open and the perks it has!
