Everyone has their own personal Thanksgiving traditions they do at home. Whether it be watching the “Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade”, a screening of  A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, playing (or watching) some turkey ball, or just simply enjoying some time with the family, everyone has personal activities that hit close to home for Thanksgiving.

Since the day is quickly approaching, I thought hearing some yearly traditions from our favorite teachers would be interesting. I took votes during each lunch period asking students what teachers they would like to hear from. The top three results came back with Mr. Green, Ms. Hess, and Mrs. Leya. Each of the teachers had a variety of activities they participated in.

I asked 4 simple questions including:

What do you typically do for Thanksgiving now?

Mrs. Leya:

Mrs. Leya takes a familiar route and goes to her brother’s house for Thanksgiving.

Ms. Hess:

Senorita Hess just simply shared that she shares Thanksgiving with her relatives.

Mr. Green:

Since Mr. Green has married his beloved wife, he spends his Thanksgiving at his wife’s uncle’s house.

Do you have any unique traditions that you do now?

Mrs. Leya:

“On Thanksgiving morning, my husband brings a TV outside and my family watches the Macy’s Day parade from the hot tub.”

Mr. Green:

“Whilst he spends family time with his wife and two kids, they watch the Macy’s Day Parade while they bake the turkey.”

Did you grow up doing any unique traditions?

Mrs. Leya:

She explains that she grew up in a small home without a big table to present all the food. Instead Mrs. Leya says, “my mom would put up the ironing board in the kitchen and set food there.”

Ms. Hess:

She grew up going to school in Upper Saint Clair, “After Thanksgiving dinner we would all go play flag football on the football and soccer fields.”

Mr. Green:

“Traditionally growing up, Thanksgiving was always at our house, where my mom would bake the best pie.”

What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?

Mrs. Leya:

“mashed potatoes mixed with gravy, corn and a touch of cranberry sauce.”

Ms. Hess:

“My family’s green bean casserole”

Mr. Green

“my favorite would be my mothers pies and definitely the turkey.”

No matter what your Thanksgiving Tradition may be, remember to also be thankful for the things around you!
