The Newest Additions to Clubs at HHS
September 13, 2022
This years activity’s fair started off strong with lot’s of new clubs at HHS. This new, normal year is getting the students excited and ready to try a variety of things. Especially seniors Rita Khoury and Jordyn Williams. Rita just started the Hampton Astronomy Club which focuses on a shared interest in outer space among high school students. “We have discussions on interesting topics like galaxies, black holes, etc.” Rita says. They also organize field trips to planetariums, and have group stargazing nights. All meetings are laid back and not mandatory, though they are for fun space talk and snacks. Contact Rita if you’re interested in joining this astronomical club.
Jordyn Williams has created the Black Student Union Club along with Helena Campbell. The Black Student Union and Alliances Club is meant to empower black students in the high school. Jordyn says, “it’s also a way for black students and allies to gather and celebrate black culture.” They meet every two weeks and the agenda includes watching movies filmed by black athletes, reading books by black authors, and a trip to Taylor Allderdice to connect to their black student union. Contact Jordyn Williams or Helena Campbell if you’re interested in joining this club. HHS is excited to see these two clubs come to life, as well as many more.

Bringing up the student club leaders, as well as the teacher sponsors, was such a smart call! Really lets people feel more invited, and it makes reaching out that much easier. Great job! 🙂
